Ladies - we can stop taking ourselves so seriously August 26, 2007 Nancy E. Kissam (Mt. Washington, CA) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
And Esther Blum shows you how.
This fantastic guide gives you helpful and healthful advice on how to balance our diets without hurting ourselves or giving ourselves guilt every time we eat a piece of toast. It's fun, informative and an absolute delight to read. You feel as though Ms. Blum is in your living room (or sitting next to you on a stool during cocktail hour) and talking to you like a friend who knows her way around nutrition.
Thank you Ms. Blum for alleviating my guilt. Now bring me a glass of Cabernet and some Flax Seed Oil!
sound advice with a fun twist August 27, 2007 Kara Stephens (Los Angeles, CA) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I love this book. I'm so sick of looking at diet books that tell me I have to cut out everything enjoyable if I want to look good. The problem with those books are you go on the diet, restrict yourself from all the food you love, lose weight (probably because you're starving yourself), go off the diet, gain the weight back. This book is different. First of all, it's not a diet book. If you want to lose 10 lbs. in 10 days, this book isn't for you. But if you want to learn how to eat healthy so you can have the body you want without going on another diet, then I suggest you check it out. There are great tips on what to eat and how to prepare it, how to drink the occasional cocktail or glass of wine without starving yourself the next day, and what supplements are all about. This book really seems like something you can follow for the rest of your life to be healthy and happy.

I absolutely loved this book. Esther is a genius and clearly knows her stuff. From supplements to skin care, finally someone has guided me through the do's and don't's in a simple and fun way. Cheers to that!
Not For Women Only! July 8, 2008 Michael Keller (New York) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
OK, maybe the part about keeping one's, er, nether-regions trim wasn't written with me in mind (at least directly), but: Esther Blum's common-sense approaches to diet & exercise are just as effective for us fellas as they are for the ladies. Equally important: They are a breath of fresh air in this self-starvation, spin-till-you-pass-out compulsive world. Esther has rescued "Happy" and returned it to its rightful place alongside "Healthy". The infectious mirth of her writing style makes this as enjoyable a read as it is informative. Brava, Esther!
Sex in the City style to diet and healthy living December 13, 2007 Samurai (Dallas, Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great read! Lots of great information about how to be healthy and WHY some foods hurt you, and how some foods help you.
Ester's approach is quite well rounded; she condones just a few foods (diet sugars) but teaches moderation with a really funny tone.
